These new works are an exploration of new terrain, changing course – the path less travelled and unknown. On a physical level they embody the texture, form, and impressions of the landscape outside and around my studio. On a personal level they subtly hint at the undercurrents of my own story, paths trodden and untrodden.
A new way of working in the studio that distorts and pushes the thrown form to its limits. Investigating and straddling the tension that is created when the clay surface is punctured and torn open. They echo the slit-like eyes of the many and varied banksia pods I find on my bush walks on Darkinjung country.
